BIO
Kika’s works delve into contrasting effects of hard and soft, industrial and organic, the familiar and distant, functional and ornate. She begins with processes including adhering onto, pouring into and ripping away, revealing certain aspects of the new ghostly object and old found object.
These found objects are industrial and chosen for their interesting shape, texture, colour and shine. They are transformed through materials such as plaster, cement, concrete, resin and fabric. These works explore opposing yet interconnected themes of emptiness and completeness, absence and presence, fragmentation, imprint and memory.
